I've deleted my previous posts in order to start afresh.
As of this morning, my sugar levels are absolutely normal and I'm at possibly the lowest weight I've been in a year - 87.8 kilos.
I got a rude shock when I went to the diabetologist in August last year and weighed in at 95.6 kilos. I immediately went on a no-processed food diet and lost about 5 kilos. The whole eat-what-you want thing doesn't work for me at this point - strict discipline seems to be what I respond to best.
I was between homes in September and moved back to India at the end of the month. I joined a 6am yoga class which I attended pretty regularly till my grandmother passed away quite suddenly in the middle of October, a week after my 25th birthday. Though I hadn't been doing it long, my body already showed visible changes - my legs looked leaner for one. I got back on track in November, only to have to take 3 weeks off on doctors orders due to severe neck spasms. I was between 89 to 91 kilos at this point. I also had severe stomach issues as I was eating really healthy for a while and my body changed so that I couldn't process rich food - a slice of pizza put me out for two days! Which isn't necessarily a bad thing!
In December, I received a Save The Date from one of my best friends from college - she's getting married at the end of March and I really want to look atleast halfway decent at her wedding - it's something I'm really excited about and I'm thrilled for her. All my best friends will be there and I want to take lots of photos without trying to obscure my body. One of my other aims is to finally have a better facebook profile photo where I'm not strategically cropped!
I wasn't terribly bad in December, but I wasn't really good either. I didn't want to make any new year's resolutions but I did start on the 1st of the year. I've managed to get in atleast 10 minutes of brisk exercise on the treadmill every day, regardless of what time it is (my mother is not amused at being kept up by the sound of me running on a treadmill!). I've slowly been working my way up to longer periods of running. I started by running only 100m at a stretch - because I was able to do only so much! I'm now up to running 200-300 m at a stretch (albeit huffing and puffing my way there!) and last night I did 2.7km of which 1.2km was running! I've also started eating healthy again. I've been drinking atleast 2 litres of water a day and eating only non-processed foods as much as possible. I found it easier to do back in London but here it's just too much hassle on top of work so I have someone doing all the chopping up of fresh fruit and vegetables. One thing I need to add is more protein so I'm working on that. I also joined Spark People and it's proving really inspiring!
I am an avid follower of the blogs on Glamour.com and a recent article there was about the importance of getting enough sleep - I've had eight hours of sleep for the past four nights and I feel amazing!
Another thing I need to work on is getting a new job - right now I'm in an underpaid job that I hate, where there's no respect for the work I do and I'm not terribly happy. I've decided to change that. My weight has always held me back from really going for what I want and I'm not going to let it stop me any more. I want to do this for myself - to be all that I can be.
Here goes something life-changing!
